Convenient care still deserves thoughtful preparation.

At First Choice Anderson, telehealth appointments may be completed by telephone or video, depending on the type of visit and the option selected by the patient. Both are healthcare appointments and should be treated with the same level of attention and preparation as an in-office visit.

How to prepare for a telephone or video visit

If you choose a telephone visit, make sure your phone is available at the scheduled appointment time and that you are in a quiet, private location where you can comfortably discuss your health. You do not need to connect by video for a telephone visit.

If you choose a video visit, the same expectations apply. In addition, choose a location with a stable internet connection and use a device with a working camera and microphone. For either type of visit, have your medication list nearby and any requested home measurements – such as blood pressure, weight, or blood sugar – available for your provider.

Treat it like an office visit

Regardless of whether your visit is by telephone or video, please avoid driving, shopping, working, or managing other distractions during the appointment. Your provider may need to discuss personal health information, review medications, assess symptoms, or provide detailed instructions. A focused, private environment helps protect your privacy and improves communication.

When telehealth may not be enough

Some health concerns require an in-person evaluation. Your provider may recommend coming into the office if you need a physical examination, vital signs, testing, treatment, or another hands-on assessment that cannot be completed appropriately by telephone or video.

Telehealth is also not a substitute for emergency care. New or severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, severe allergic reactions, or other potentially life-threatening symptoms require immediate emergency evaluation.

Flexibility without compromising your care

Our goal at First Choice Anderson is flexibility without compromising your care. Offering both telephone and video appointments allows patients to stay connected with their healthcare team in the way that works best for them while still receiving thoughtful, focused care. When an in-person visit is needed, we will let you know.
